My all time favorite sweet treat – coconut blissballs & life update

Facebooktwitterpinterest

Hi guys,

I am back with my all time favorite, a recipe of delicious blissballs, so stay tuned. 😉 But first, let me tell you about my last weeks…

I focused on my family recently and spent a lot of time with them. 🙂 It was really good and my boyfriend and my sister’s boyfriend were there too, and we talked and laughted a lot. I felt like I belong to them and I love each one of them. Of course, it is not news to me, but didn’t have the chance to get together all 6 of us, because my sister’s boyfriend lives in another country. So it was a special “date”. 🙂

Eventhough we had difficulties – my parents doesn’t really speak English, and he can’t speak Hungarian (yet) – we spent a whole day together and played Solo. Do you know it? It is a card game with numbers. It can be fun 😉

Some of you know about my current situation at my workplace. Well, there were layoffs, a lot of people got fired, almost half of our department… Fortunately, I survived. But I can’t say that the situation is so much better know, but I don’t like to complain…

About the blissballs

We also visited my grandmother, who lives in Eger, Hungary. Such a beautiful and lovely place, and I have a lot of good memories from there. 🙂 One of them are these coconut blissballs, which “Nagyi” (how I call her) use to make even nowadays 🙂 There are a lot of “kókuszgolyó” recipes out there, but in my opinion they are not even close to my grandma’s blissballs, they are so delicious. I was sad a little bit when I turned vegan, and I thought that I can never eat these again. But then I realized that I can veganize it! So here is the recipe for you:

What you will need (for 25-30 balls):
  • 10 dkg plant margarine (butter)
  • ~10 g of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbsp of high quality cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp of rum flavor (it is a key ingredient!)
  • 10 dkg icing sugar (I used cane sugar and grinded it)
  • 1 tbsp of any plantmilk (I used almond, maybe you will need more, you will see it)
  • 25 dkg of minced household biscuit (I am not sure it is called like that, where you live, but it is a simple biscuit, the main ingredients are flour and sugar)

Other things you will need:

  • granulated sugar
  • desiccated coconut
  • French dragees (these are like smarties or M&M’s, but they are vegan)
How to do it:
  1. Mix the room-temperature “butter”, the sugar, the biscuit, the cocoa powder and other ingredients together, except those 3, I mentioned before.
  2. Make small balls and put the dragees inside them.
  3. Roll the balls into the mixture of the granulated sugar and coconut.
  4. Put them into the fridge to cool down, they are the best when they are cold 😉

I hope you understand this recipe, it is really hard to write those words like “hemperget” or “háztartási keksz” in English 😀

If you have any questions, don’t be afraid, just ask 🙂 Any comments and shares are appreciated 🙂

I hope you are doing well!

Love,

Suzie
