14 ways to make your pancakes look irresistible

Facebooktwitterpinterest

As you may know today is Pancake Day, so I thought I will share with you these awesome ideas to make your pancakes look irresistible. 😉

Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter – was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday, Anglo-Saxon Christians went to confession and were “shriven” (absolved from their sins). A bell would be rung to call people to confession. This came to be called the “Pancake Bell” and is still rung today.
Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.

A pancake is a thin, flat cake, made of batter and fried in a frying pan. A traditional English pancake is very thin and is served immediately. Golden syrup or lemon juice and caster sugar are the usual toppings for pancakes.

The ingredients for pancakes can be seen to symbolise four points of significance at this time of year:
Eggs ~ Creation
Flour ~ The staff of life
Salt ~ Wholesomeness
Milk ~ Purity

Of course, since I am vegan, I will only share vegan pancake recipes/ideas with you. But when it comes to decorating the crepes it doesn’t matter what are they made from. 🙂

Here is the easiest and healthiest vegan (fluffy) pancake recipe for you. It is:

  • sugar free,
  • dairy free,
  • gluten free,
  • easy & healthy,
  • only 3 ingredients!
You will need:
  • 3 cups gluten-free rolled oats or oat flour
  • 2 cup almond milk
  • 2 medium spotty bananas
Instructions:
  1. Place oats into a high speed blender and process until a flour is reached.
  2. Add in the remaining ingredients until a batter is formed.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan on medium and pour 1/3 cup of batter, using a measuring cup to ensure equal size and cooking times.
  4. Allow the pancake to cook until bubbles appear around the edges, then flip and cook until golden.

The recipe is from here. Thank you Jasmine! 🙂 And now…

Let’s see what we have here!

1. Top them with some berries!

It could be blueberries (probably my favorite), mulberries, raspberries or even cherries! Be creative and generous with the toppings 🙂

2. Add some ice cream, because why not?

First it sounds interesting, but trust me, it is the probably the best thing you can do with your pancakes! 🙂 Because ice cream is awesome, pancakes are too, and the two together, make you smile too. Haha 🙂

3. Add some color (but only natural!)

You can use natural ingredients such as beetroot, blueberries, maybe some turmeric to make your pancakes look irresistable and colorful. Or you can add natural food coloring from brands like Rawnice or Unicorn Superfoods.

These beautiful rainbow pancakes are made by my friend Celia. She is such a talent! You should visit her instagram. 🙂

4. Use your favourite fruits and keep it healthy

Fruits and nuts on a pancake? Perfect match! The more you eat, the healthier you get. 🙂

5. Use the same pattern for the whole pile

I mean, keep the harmony like Daniela does:

6. Pour it with melted chocolate

Who doesn’t love chocolate? But seriously? I am a fan, I don’t eat meat or cheese, but I could never give up chocolate. Could you?

7. Make it look like a Christmas tree
8. Add your favorite sweet treat

It could be Oreo, like on this picture:

Or some of your favorite chocolate:

Or even gingerbread:

9. Add peanut butter

Raise your hands if you like peanut butter! It can be smooth or crunchy, doesn’t matter, but it should contain 100% peanuts. And the best part is that you can make it home, if you have a food processor/blender. 😉

10. Pour it with vegan yogurt

How can be a yogurt vegan? Well, it can. 🙂 Take this one from alpro, or this one from koko. What is your favorite yogurt brand? Share with us in the comments below!

11. Fill your crepes with cream
12. Fold your crepes into triangles
13. Roll ’em up!
14. Make them savory

Who says pancakes must be sweet? You can add some savory cream to them like basil cashew cream:

Or this one with spinach and vegan Ricotta:

I hope you enjoyed this list of beautiful pancakes, I am really hungry right now. 😀
